COVID Car Parade

The Mount Vernon community is the best! A simple idea for a car parade turned into a week-long show of support that gave our elders a chance to see their family and friends at a safe distance. So many loved ones drove by waving and holding signs of love and encouragement. It was such a moving and emotional moment for all of us — definitely the highlight of our week!

Participation was outstanding: The drive-around parade circled our entire campus for five days straight. The weather was in our favor as well. While we did have to bundle up a little bit some days, that didn’t keep any of us from going outside to wave, blow kisses, or say, we miss you! (staying well within the social distancing guidelines, of course).

The Mount Vernon Police and Fire Departments came out, and we had some grand family members and OES members join in on the fun as well. Thank you so much to everyone who showed up to help make this an event we will remember forever! Your love means the world to us.
