Apple Valley Lake: An Ohio Getaway

 In Enrichment

We are so fortunate to have a bus that can accommodate the social distancing needed for an outing. Times are tough, but we’re following guidelines as they emerge.

If you could use a little ray of sunshine in all of this, maybe the joy of our Elders will cheer you up! We had an especially fun day recently. A few of our Care Partners and Elders were able to take a little day trip to Apple Valley Lake, and it was absolutely lovely.

They spent time in conversation with friends while looking out over the beautiful Ohio lake and enjoying the outdoors. It’s the simple things in life that bring happiness to our hearts and minds, and a day at the lake was just that! Sometimes a simple road trip in the sunshine is all it takes to put a smile on everyone’s faces.

Apple Valley Lake

It’s not hard to see why so many people want to visit and live in the Apple Valley area. Many people don’t realize that Apple Valley Lake is downright enormous. Believe it or not, as the link above states, it spans 511 acres, averaging a 30-foot depth. Now that’s big! Our elders and staff sure do enjoy visiting, even if just to gaze out over the water. It’s clearly quite a view!

Established in the early 1970s, the lake is supposed to be great for fishing. I’m sure that’s true, but that wasn’t the focus of our little Ohio field trip. Despite our love for animals, we didn’t come for the fish, specifically.

Relaxing by the water with a cool breeze was enough to make our trip a great one. Sometimes it’s nice to just kick back in a beautiful spot with good people, you know?
